Tanowa Tomiyama is an Afro-Asian fashion label founded by Japanese-Ghanaian designer Alexandra Tomiyama.
Born from a life between cultures, the brand brings together Japanese and Ghanaian heritage through textiles, silhouettes and craftsmanship.
Drawing from vintage Japanese kimono fabrics, obiage, shibori, Ghanaian textiles and contemporary design, each piece explores what happens when traditions from different worlds are allowed to meet rather than remain separate.
Created in Paris in small quantities, Tanowa Tomiyama transforms culturally rooted materials into contemporary wearable art — pieces designed to be lived in, collected and interpreted by the person wearing them.
